Abalone tested at sea bream and sea bass farm in Cyprus

IDREEM partners Seawave Fisheries and Marine & Environmental Research Lab have deployed green ormers / abalone (Haliotis tuberculata) at Seawave farm in Cyprus. They were deployed in 3 sizes in hanged Ortac baskets from the sea bass cages where they will be fed with macroalgae (mainly Ulva sp.). Some were also put in juvenile sea bass cages, in the next weeks their survival and growth rates will be monitored carefully, to test whether they can also grow there, by feeding on and clearing the biofouling, which offers benefits to the fin-fish farmer
