Developing Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture in Italy

Italian IDREEM partners Chiara Cantore (University of Genoa) and Roberto Co (AQUA s.rl.)  were recently invited to present the IDREEM project and the IMTA model applied in Italy in the TV program “Itinerari di Liguria”. Chiara explained how the approach of integrated multi-trophic aquaculture can help increasing the environmental and economic sustainability of the Italian industry. Roberto showed how this is model is being applied at AQUA farms in Liguria, where oysters are grown in proximity of sea bream cages feeding on nutrients from fin-fishes.
